Book Review: Unholy Domain by Dan Ronco

Jul 5th, 2008 by Addy | 0

There are a plethora of sci-fi books that have explored what the Earth would be like after the apocalypse, and generally the apocalypse in question is a nuclear war, or some sort of plague.

Unholy Domain takes this genre in a new and very thought provoking direction. One only has to spend a couple of minutes researching the history and growth of the Internet to realize how in the space of just a few years it was woven itself into the very fabric of our world. We have near instantaneous communication via email, we have access to enormous repositories of information, it has become a part of our day to day life. I could not live without it!

One thing you will certainly be impressed with is the types of interactive designs that most web programmers put into sites today. Menus can be enhanced using dropdown options or even simple highlights. While they may seem technical, they are scripts that can be easy to use.

Underneath the Title Bar are other bars that can be used for moving around the Internet. If you are looking for quick and easy ways to navigate, the bars located at the top of your screen under the Title Bar will be helpful. One of the most useful bars is the Menu Bar. You will quickly appreciate each of the options found on the Menu Bar.

Get Everything to Know About API

Jul 5th, 2008 by Addy | 0

Most individuals have a number of public profiles and blogs. But it can be tedious to make all the connections with all your contacts from one site to another. Enter the Social Graph API, which shows public connections between people. Programmers can use this data to come up with an “add friends” functionality. Publicly available information and relationships from indexed webpages are used for this API. The Google crawler looks for links indicating that a profile is a “friend” or “me”. Open standards like XFN (XHTML Friends Network) and FOAF (Friend Of A Friend) are used to show relationships. Test drive the example apps such as Site Connectivity, My Connections and Parameter Playground.

Find the Right ISP For You

Contrary to what you see on their ads, sites are bound to suffer some downtime every now and then. You should not be alarmed since this is only normal. However, there is a time limit. Normally the longest would be an hour unless something tragic has struck.

Once this happens, you can more or less measure the competency of your service provider. If simple hosting cannot be handled by their servers, chances are you should look for another one. Hosting is quite simple and if the hardware they have cannot accommodate your needs, then don’t be surprised to see them fold up in the end.

One of the methods to access an FTP site is to place a directory of files in one’s computer and allow his clients to access them by implementing the use of certain User IDs and passwords. Internet browsers have built-in FTP clients, which they use to download data. In performing this function, you would just have to come into the FTP address in the browser. FTP may use a DNS (Domain Naming Service) to control unidentified access to the database.

Prepare Yourself for the Blogging World

Jul 5th, 2008 by Addy | 0

When I was just starting out with my very first blog, I was quite thrilled! I had a “site” at last. I’m not the type who asks for help, so when I was posting the articles I was literally doing the trial-and-error stuff. I kept on fussing with the dashboard and changing the templates. My blog didn’t turn out the way I wanted it to. So I looked for other sites that would suit my needs.

Scrutinizing the security of these web assets on the network for possible vulnerabilities is overriding. All modern database systems may be accessed all the way to specific ports and anyone can attempt unswerving connections to the databases effectively to evade the security apparatus used by the operating system. Acunetix Web Vulnerability Scanner guarantees website security by automatically checking for SQL injection, Cross site scripting and other troubles in the web. It verifies password strength on authentication pages and mechanically inspects the web applications. When the scan is complete, the software creates thorough reports and locates where the vulnerabilities come from.

Combining their resources allows better reach and offers another blow to Microsoft who is desperate for a piece of the Ad market that Google dominates. The power of Microsoft is decreasing day by day and their days as one of the most influential software giant is truly numbered.

Choose Internet Service Providers Analytically

http://Comcast.net, owned by the Comcast Corporation which is the largest cable tv company and second largest internet service provider in the USA, was hacked for several hours last Wednesday, May 29. The hackers left a cryptic message on the site saying that they had “RoXed” Comcast. Spokeswoman of Comcast, Jennifer Khoury, stated late Thursday morning that the problem was solved but some Comcast users were still unable to access their accounts. Khoury explained that the hackers seem to have seized control of the http://Comcast.net domain name at registrar network solutions and had it redirected to other servers.
