To be told you have “heart disease” can strike fear into anyone hearing it for the first time, however it’s not as bad as it sounds.

In this article I am going to explain some of the terms, causes and remedies associated with heart disease.

Heart disease is a general term used to describe several different conditions, all of which are potentially fatal, but are also treatable and/or preventable. Heart disease is primarily a disease of lifestyle, and is largely preventable through risk factor awareness and modification.

Vitamin C, also known as ascorbic acid, has been proven over the years as a crucial component in the fight against heart disease. Studies have been done over the years and a Noble Prize winning scientist has proven that Vitamin C is very important not only for a healthy heart and cardiovascular system, but for overall health as well.

Millions of years ago nearly all mammals manufactured ascorbic acid in their liver from glucose. Then some 55 to 60 million years ago one of ancestral primates was afflicted with a genetic mutation that prevented him from producing his own ascorbic acid.
