What Dog Sounds Mean

Jul 18th, 2008 by Addy | 0

When your dog softly whimpers that means: “I’m hurt!” “I’m frightened.” The average human is most likely to hear this at the vet, when a dog is suffering, or when an obedient dog is in a strange location that appears intimidating. This is really a mewing sound that young dogs make when they feel cold, hungry, or troubled.

Loud, long-drawn-out whining sounds mean: “Please give me something . . .” or “I want something …” A puppy usually uses this sound when he’s waiting for his meal, or for the leash to be put on, or when they are trying to get his master’s attention, etc.

Puppy Training: Fetching Your Goals

Jul 13th, 2008 by Addy | 0

Having a puppy at home can create some of the most amazing times not only for you but for your family as well. Puppies are so cute and adorable and if you have kids that experience is something that becomes so much more. Seeing your kids with this new puppy having a good time with it and playing with it is something that can’t be replaced. This may be something that is amazing but at the same time you can’t become a lazy owner. Taking care of a puppy requires a lot of time and dedication that you simply can’t ignore. There are many negative consequences to doing this and later on in the dogs life is usually when these come up. There are some people that think that this won’t be a problem because they will have time later on down the line to correct any problems that may come up. This is terrible thinking because it is much harder to teach an older dog that is set in his ways how to act instead of teaching a younger dog. Your goal should be to have a grown up dog that knows how to act and knows what to do.

Puppy Training: Sitting Like a Champion

Jul 13th, 2008 by Addy | 0

Having a puppy is such a life changing experience because when you have a puppy it is almost as though you have your very own child. Puppies are very much like children because they depend on you for everything. They need you to eat and they need you to take them out as well as clean up after them. If you compare them to a newborn child or even a child that is a few years old, they require just about the same things. Another important thing that puppies need that children need to is for you to teach them what you know. You have to teach them how to be good people and how to be able to communicate. These same things apply to puppies. When you have a puppy you need to teach it how to be a good dog that is well adjusted and well behaved. This is something that a lot of people don’t take seriously because they think that the dog will automatically learn how to do this. This is simply not true. To have a great dog, a lot of the responsibility rests on you the owner, his parent.

Puppy Training: Lying Down on the Job

Jul 13th, 2008 by Addy | 0

When most people get a brand new puppy they all want to try to teach it something new and exciting for him or her to do. That is a great way to bond with your puppy because it shows that you want to have a great relationship with him or her and they can easily see that. It is something that a wonderful thing to have. Many people aren’t really there for their dogs and that relationship is usually missing from a lot of people’s lives with their puppies. Many people just see their puppy as something that is cute and cuddly and that it shouldn’t be such a laborious task to take care of them but in reality it is something that you can’t ignore. Having a puppy in your own is a full time job just like the same goes for having a child. You can’t ignore them and you always need to be there for them to be able to say that they are good people because you made sure of it.

Puppy Care: The Power of the Shower

Jul 13th, 2008 by Addy | 0

Being clean today is part of everyone’s busy schedule. It is something that we as people do every day in order to maintain ourselves after we spend a whole day getting dirty. This same rule of thumb applies to little puppies. They spend plenty of time running around either outside or in your home. They spend most of their time on the floor or rolling around somewhere that is probably less than clean. This isn’t something that is so serious but without good care it can become something that can escalate to other things such as fleas and ticks. These two things can be something that can be very harmful to a dog let alone a young puppy. The reason for this is because fleas and ticks carry with them many diseases that your puppy would be better off not having. They can cause all sorts of problems that your puppy shouldn’t have to deal with at this stage in his life. Fortunately there are plenty of things you can do to prevent this from happening to him.

Puppy Training: Being the Best Leader You Can Be

Jul 13th, 2008 by Addy | 0

Puppies are the cutest thing you can ever see. They are innocent and they are adorable. They never get mad and even though they don’t know what’s right and what’s wrong, they don’t do things that are malicious. When you first get a puppy you need to take the time and effort to train it and show it what’s right in your book and what’s wrong. You need to do this in order to establish what roles you will play. Before dogs were domesticated they all worked on a pack leader mentality. This mentality dictates who among the pack is the leader and who sets the rules. It indicates who eats first and who drinks first and who enforces all the rules that are set forth. This is key even with dogs that are domesticated because even though this may be true they will still want to operate on this pack leader mentality. It is something that is built in and in their genes. In order for you to function correctly with your new puppy now and in the future, you need to take this leadership position and make sure you keep it in a dominant way.

Puppy Training: Reclaming Your Bedroom

Jul 13th, 2008 by Addy | 0

Having a puppy and training him the right way is something that should be done and it should be done consistently. There are many dogs whom grow up and think that they can do whatever they want and whenever they want because when they were younger, no one told them what they can do and what they can’t. One of these little issues is sleeping on the bed. This problem can seem very harmless when they are a puppy but as they grow older their personalities mature and they start becoming more and more dominant. This can be seen if you ever sleep with your older dog in the bed. If you try to move and it requires him to move, does he make a groaning noise as though you are disturbing hime This is the clear cut sign that he thinks that this is his place and you are just a visitor. This situation is dangerous because it is giving him a false sense of dominance in your relationship and it is something that needs to be prevented at all costs. The best way to prevent these sorts of future problems is to start trying to train them when they are young.
