When it comes to purchasing your chef hats, you know where to go and you know what to choose. But do you know how to properly care for those special garmentse

Use clean water. When laundering your garments, an obvious step is to use, well, clean water. However, some water is too soft and some water is too hard. To get more from your garments, you will want to insure the water has a good ph balance. This will insure your water is clean and not cause undo stress on the very fibers.

Use good detergent. There are a lot of good ways to save money, but purchasing the cheapest detergent possible for your work wear is not one of the recommended ways of saving money. Splurge and purchase a high quality detergent even if it costs a bit more. This is definitely an investment that will pay you back over time. In addition, a good detergent will insure your garments look better.

Use a colorfast detergent rather than a bleaching agent. Bleaching agents can be rough on the fibers of the garment. Colorfast detergents will get you the same cleanliness factor without abusing the garment. In addition, these colorfast agents can be added in combination with a high quality detergent for maximum benefits.

Use the right laundering cycle. The majority of laundering or washing machines have more than one cycle for a good reason. Knowing which cycle to use for your work wear is going to serve you and your work wear well. If you need to use the gentle cycle, do not worry about using the gentle cycle. The garment will be cleansed of foul odors as well as dirty splashes that could stain the garb.

Use proper cleaning habits. If you launder your garment, be sure to take it out of the wash as soon as possible after the cycle ends. Leaving the garment in the wash for days will cause mildew and mold to form that not only harms the garment, but that will make the garment look and smell horrible. Once out of the wash, dry in your preferred manner.

Use good storing habits. How you store the chef hats is important too! Just tossing them in the basket until they are needed is not a good way to store your favorite cap or hat. You should have a place in your closet or drawer that is a safe haven for your work wear. This area should be free of animal dander as well as smoke. You will be protecting yourself as well as your work when you insure your garments are free from hair, fur, or other allergens.
